Georgina Rodríguez says in an Instagram post to stand squarely behind her friend Cristiano Ronaldo in the riot that arose after Kathryn Mayorga accused the top footballer of raping her in 2009.
“You always convert obstacles that come your way to strength, to show how good you are, thank you for letting us enjoy every game so much, always better and better, I love you, Cristiano,”, said Rodriguez, who can be seen in the stands of the Juventus stadium, the club where Ronaldo plays.
Ronaldo denied all allegations earlier this weekend in a live video, in which he described the accusations as ‘fake news’. “No, no, no, they try to use my name to become famous myself, it’s part of it, but I’m a happy man and everything is going well.”
The German magazine Der Spiegel brought the story of the American Mayorga, who claims to have been raped by the top football player in Las Vegas in 2009.
She claims to have received an amount of 325,000 euros from him to keep it quiet, but would now have been inspired by the # MeToo movement to make a case of it. Ronaldo’s lawyers called the woman’s allegations “shamelessly illegal”.
