George Floyd’s family files a lawsuit against Kanye West (45). The American rapper claimed in the podcast ‘Drink Champs’ on YouTube that George Floyd did not die from suffocation during a police action, but from the effects of the painkiller fentanyl.
George’s family is suing Kanye for more than 250 million euros for spreading false information. The charges are being filed on behalf of Floyd’s daughter, but by her mother Roxie Washington because she is still a minor herself.
The interview with Kanye has since been taken offline. In the episode, the rapper makes several anti-Semitic statements. Before the podcast’s episode was removed from YouTube and hip-hop platform Revolt TV, podcast host Victor Santiago already apologized for the conversation. “I felt terrible when I watched the interview,” said the presenter in the radio program The Breakfast Club .
American black man George Floyd was killed by police officers in Minneapolis in 2020. His death, as well as that of Breonna Taylor, who was shot dead in her own home, sparked massive protests against racial injustice and police brutality.
George Floyd’s former partner Roxie Washington, who is the mother of his daughter Gianna, will sue Kanye West for harassment, misappropriation, defamation and infliction of emotional distress.https://t.co/VQaIqKS3Zp

Last week, Kanye West was supposed to be on the American TV show The Shop to talk about the fuss that had arisen about him after a series of anti-Semitic tweets. He used his speaking time to repeat even more anti-Semitic statements, which prompted CEO Maverick Carter not to air the episode with the rapper.
