The comedy series Frasier is officially getting a reboot, Paramount + confirms Wednesday. More than seventeen years after the last season, Kelsey Grammer returns to the role of psychiatrist Frasier Crane.
The broadcaster has not yet announced who will play the other roles. It is therefore unclear whether David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves and Peri Gilpin will return. John Mahoney, who played Crane’s father, passed away in 2018.
The new episodes will be written by Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli, who previously collaborated on the sitcom How I Met Your Mother .
Paramount + emphasizes that the Frasier reboot will start to look old-fashioned. The broadcaster has not said how many episodes will come or when the reboot should appear. According to rumors, new episodes have been discussed since 2018.
Frasier was seen for eleven seasons, from 1993 to 2004, and is about psychiatrist Crane (Grammer), who gives advice to his listeners in a radio program. The series won a total of 37 Emmys. 264 episodes were made.
