The Greek fire brigade has found the body of a passenger on the ferry that caught fire the day before yesterday. It is the first fatality found.
The Greek-Italian ferry Olympia was en route from Greece to Italy when it caught fire near Corfu. There were 241 passengers and 51 crew members on board. Three of the passengers were from the Netherlands.
281 people have been brought to safety so far, including the three Dutchmen. Today another Belarusian man was taken off the ship alive. Ten people on board were slightly injured.
The discovery of the dead passenger brings the number of missing persons back to ten. According to the coast guard, these are truck drivers from Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece.
It is not yet known what caused the fire. The prosecutor has launched a criminal investigation. The fire is believed to have started in the hull of the boat.
