‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ director Sam Taylor-Johnson (55) is working on a biopic about the late singer Amy Winehouse, Variety reports. The film will be called ‘Back to Black’, after the British singer’s well-known album that was rewarded with six Grammy Awards.
The script, written by Matt Greenhalgh, is said to have already been completed and actors would be cast at this point. The director prefers a newcomer for the role of Amy, according to the entertainment magazine. Mitch Winehouse, Winehouse’s father, is behind the project.
The singer, known for songs such as ‘Rehab’ and ‘You Know I’m No Good’, died in 2011 at the age of 27 from the effects of alcohol poisoning. This is not the first time that a production about the singer has been made. Previously released the BBC documentary Reclaiming Amy and the Oscar-winning documentary Amy .
