Jason Momoa Unveils Unconventional Breakfast Choice: Rice, Avocado, Sunny-Side-Up Eggs, and Fresh Sardines
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Jason Momoa, known for his role in ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,’ fearlessly shares his unconventional breakfast preference, which he unabashedly declares as his “favorite thing” to eat each morning.
The 44-year-old actor, renowned for his portrayal of Aquaman, reveals his distinctive morning ritual: “I have a weird breakfast thing. I always have rice with avocado, sunny-side-up eggs, and sardines.” Momoa emphasizes that the sardines must be “fresh” and even suggests the culinary delight of having them “grilled.”
When asked if this peculiar breakfast is a daily routine, Momoa responds, “If I can, yeah. That’s my favorite thing.” However, the menu takes a different turn when he finds himself in his hometown of Honolulu, Hawaii. In that case, Momoa indulges in a more traditional Hawaiian breakfast, featuring Portuguese sausage, eggs, rice, macaroni salad, kalua pig, lau lau, and a bowl of poi.
In a lighthearted remark, Momoa quips, “it’s back to sleep” after enjoying his Hawaiian feast.
Beyond his culinary adventures, Momoa has ventured into the world of spirits with the launch of Meili Vodka earlier this year. Reflecting his commitment to eco-friendly practices, the vodka’s bottles are crafted from recycled glass. Additionally, Momoa is the owner of the aluminum-bottle water brand Mananalu, advocating for the reduction of single-use plastic.
The actor, credited as a co-writer on his upcoming film ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,’ took the opportunity to champion environmental causes during a red carpet appearance on Dec. 9. Momoa expressed his dedication to reducing single-use plastic, aligning with his role as the UN Environment Programme’s Advocate for Life Below Water, conferred last year at the UN Ocean Conference in Portugal.
Momoa’s unusual breakfast choice, featuring sardines, aligns with his commitment to maintaining a fit physique through rigorous workouts, essential for his on-screen superhero role. This isn’t the first time he’s incorporated unconventional elements into his acting approach; during the filming of the drama ‘See,’ Momoa shared a memorable moment on Instagram, demonstrating how he safely interacted with a nine-foot-tall Kodiak bear by having it eat an Oreo cookie from his mouth.
‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,’ directed by James Wan, is set to hit theaters on Dec. 22, reuniting Momoa with co-stars Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
