Inside Out 2 Takes Viewers on a Journey Through New Emotions and Voices
As Riley navigates the complexities of growing up, Pixar’s highly anticipated sequel, “Inside Out 2,” promises to delve into a fresh array of emotions, introducing audiences to a whole new animated adventure. Scheduled for release on June 14, the film, directed by Kelsey Mann and produced by Mark Nielsen, continues the captivating exploration of the human mind.
The storyline follows the original five emotions—Joy, Anger, Sadness, Fear, and Disgust—as they find themselves collaborating with a set of newcomers voiced by an impressive cast. Tony Hale steps in as the new Fear, taking over from Bill Hader, while Liza Lapira replaces Mindy Kaling as Disgust. Adèle Exarchopoulos joins the ensemble to voice the intriguing new character, Ennui.
In addition to the returning cast, a fresh group of emotions adds depth to the narrative. Maya Hawke lends her voice to Anxiety, an energetic character dedicated to preparing Riley for every potential negative outcome. Ayo Edebiri voices Envy, a perpetually jealous emotion always longing for what others possess. Adèle Exarchopoulos embodies the teenage apathy of Ennui, providing a perfect balance to Riley’s evolving personality. Paul Walter Hauser portrays Embarrassment, a character with a penchant for laying low despite his noticeable blush-pink complexion.
The film also introduces new voices such as Kensington Tallman as Riley Andersen, entering high school, and Lilimar as Valentina “Val” Ortiz, a hockey player admired by Riley and her friends.
Notable returning cast members include Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan as Riley’s parents, along with Sumayyah Nuriddin-Green, Grace Lu, and Yvette Nicole Brown, who voice Riley’s best friends and Coach Roberts, respectively.
The expansive voice cast of “Inside Out 2” features Sarayu Blue, Flea, Ron Funches, Dave Goelz, James Austin Johnson, Bobby Moynihan, Frank Oz, Paula Pell, Paula Poundstone, John Ratzenberger, Kendall Coyne Schofield, June Squibb, Kirk Thatcher, and Yong Yea.
