Lance Bass Opens Up About NSYNC Reunion on Justin Timberlake’s Album, Family Life, and Reality TV Dreams
In a recent interview, Lance Bass, renowned for his NSYNC fame, shared insights into his life as a father, the band’s resurgence, and his aspirations in the world of reality TV. Bass, now 44, introduced his 2 1/2-year-old twins to his musical legacy through the “Trolls Band Together” movie, featuring the much-anticipated NSYNC reunion song, “Better Place.” This marked the group’s first new recording in two decades.
The excitement doesn’t end there, as NSYNC is set for another reunion on Justin Timberlake’s upcoming album, “Everything I Thought It Was,” releasing on March 15. The track, titled “Paradise,” was recorded alongside “Better Place,” and Bass expressed his eagerness for fans to finally experience it.
Bass, speaking from Los Angeles via Zoom, shared a heartwarming detail about the new song, stating, “It is such a special song. One of my favorites I’ve ever recorded. My mom cried immediately when she heard it. So it’s Mom-approved.”
Delving into his family life, Bass acknowledged that his twins, Alexander and Violet, are blissfully unaware of their father’s teenage stardom. Despite this, he humorously commented on the resurgence of ’90s trends among the younger generation, expressing his surprise at the popularity of styles like frosted tips and baggy jeans.
Beyond his musical past, Bass remains attuned to contemporary music, from K-pop to Taylor Swift. Addressing his humorous sign reading “Not Taylor Swift” at an NFL game, he clarified it was a jest aimed at those overly concerned about Swift’s TV appearances.
Sharing his dream job, Bass revealed a desire to host “Big Brother,” citing the positive impact of diverse representation on reality TV. Reflecting on his late friend Aaron Carter’s tragic death, he expressed sadness at witnessing the inevitable outcome and the challenges of helping someone in such circumstances.
Looking ahead, Bass teased a movie recounting his infamous prom night with “Boy Meets World” star Danielle Fishel and a boy band talent show he’s producing. Despite recognizing the challenges in today’s music landscape, he remains optimistic about the enduring legacy of “Trolls,” stating, “If I do nothing else, I will be a star for that right there.”
