Duffy has called on Netflix boss Reed Hastings to take the Polish film 365 Days offline. According to the singer, sex trafficking, kidnapping and rape are glorified in the film.
Duffy told via Instagram in February that she herself was a kidnapping victim and was raped and drugged.
“I don’t know what to think, say or do, except explain how irresponsible it was from Netflix to put the movie 365 Days online,” the singer wrote in an open letter to Hastings. “The film glorifies the harsh realities of sex trafficking, kidnapping and rape. This shouldn’t be anyone’s idea of entertainment.”
According to 36-year-old Duffy, 365 Days can not be said to be “just a movie”. “It is not, because this film distorts subjects that are still under-discussed by eroticizing them.”
365 Days is about a woman from Warsaw who is kidnapped by an Italian mafia boss. He gives her 365 days to fall in love with him.
