Dolly Parton Gives Thumbs Up to Beyoncé’s “Jolene” Cover in Upcoming Album
Country music icon Dolly Parton has given her seal of approval to Beyoncé’s upcoming album, particularly acknowledging what appears to be a cover of her timeless hit “Jolene.”
On Wednesday, Beyoncé, aged 42, took to social media to unveil a poster-style tracklist for her forthcoming record, Cowboy Carter, featuring a whopping 27 song titles. Among them, fans noticed a nod to Parton’s iconic 1973 single. Parton, 78, wasted no time in responding, urging her followers to give it a listen – while also recommending her original rendition.
“Listen to my original ‘Jolene’ while you wait for @Beyonce’s COWBOY CARTER – Dolly P,” tweeted Parton, alongside a comparison of Beyoncé’s tracklist poster and her own artwork for “Jolene.”

The “My Tennessee Mountain Home” singer also took to Instagram, using her Instagram Story to share Beyoncé’s announcement and providing a link to her own version of the song, which has garnered over 600 million streams on Spotify.
In the comments section of Beyoncé’s post, which has racked up over 1 million likes, excited fans expressed anticipation for the album’s release, with many buzzing about the inclusion of one of Parton’s most beloved tunes.
“Joleneeeeeeee I’m gonna cry!” exclaimed one fan.
“The legends 🫢 Dolly P and Bey🥹 laaawwwwddddd,” added another.
“This album is about to …baby she’s bout to cut Jolene UP😮💨😮💨😮💨” remarked a third fan.
In addition to “Jolene,” the official tracklist reveals titles such as “American Requiem,” “Blackbird,” “16 Carriages,” “Protector,” “My Rose,” “Smoke Hour,” and more.
While Parton’s name is mentioned alongside country music legends Willie Nelson and Linda Martell on the poster, it remains unclear whether they will be featured or sampled on Beyoncé’s tracks.
Earlier in March, Parton hinted at a potential “Jolene” cover during an interview with Knox News, expressing excitement about Beyoncé’s country album. “I think she’s recorded ‘Jolene’ and I think it’s probably gonna be on her country album, which I’m very excited about that,” shared the country music icon. “I love her! She’s a beautiful girl and a great singer.”
