Disney is currently working on a live action remake of the animated film Hercules . The Hollywood Reporter reports that Dave Callaham has been hired to provide the script for the new version of the 1997 film.
Joe and Anthony Russo, who are responsible for the two most recent Avengers movies, have been hired as producers. According to sources, it is not yet known who will direct the film. Although there are already names circulating of actors who might play a role, the sources say that the project is not so far advanced.
In the 1997 version, Tate Donovan provided the voice of Hercules. Danny DeVito and James Woods also lent their voices to the animated film. The film’s story follows the myth about the son of two gods who must first prove himself before he can become immortal.
Hercules is next in a long line of live action remakes Disney has produced in recent years. For example, Aladdin , The Lion King and Jungle Book were given a new look.
