The New York Fire Department quickly controlled the fire in the Trump Tower. But for a resident of the Manhattan skyscraper, any help came too late.
A man was killed in a fire in the Trump Tower in New York City. The 67-year-old was found unconscious and later died in the hospital, the police said. According to media reports, the dead man is the inhabitant of an apartment – probably an art dealer.
The fire had broken out on Saturday night (local time) on the 50th floor of the skyscraper – heavy smoke was rising from the building in Manhattan. The streets around the Trump Tower have been closed off.
The fire department was “very difficult,” the fire department reported: “The apartment is quite large, we are 50 stories up the top, in the rest of the building, the amount of smoke was considerable.” Nevertheless, you could bring the fire after a short time under control. Six emergency services were injured during the fire fighting.
US President Donald Trump thanked the firefighters for their “great work”. The fire in his skyscraper was cleared, he wrote in the short message service Twitter.
Fire at Trump Tower is out. Very confined (well built building). Firemen (and women) did a great job. THANK YOU!

The skyscraper on Fifth Avenue is home to Trump’s corporate empire, and the top three of the 58 floors are home to the US President’s luxury home. He and his wife Melania were in Washington at the time of the fire.
