Dakota Johnson received criticism from both supporters and critics of Armie Hammer after her joke at the Sundance Film Festival.
Dakota Johnson and Armie Hammer do not have a friendly relationship, this was evident when she made a joke about him while presenting an award to Luca Guadagnino for “Bones and all” at the Sundance Film Festival.
At the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, Dakota Johnson presented an award to Luca Guadagnino for his film “Bones and all” and took the opportunity to make a humorous reference to Armie Hammer’s past role as a suspected cannibal in the movie “Call Me By Your Name”, which he starred in alongside Timothee Chalamet.
The 2007 film “Call Me By Your Name” depicts the romantic relationship between a professor, portrayed by Armie Hammer, who is staying at a French cottage with the parents of a teenage boy, played by Timothee Chalamet, and how they fall in love.
Dakota Johnson made a humorous comment during the award ceremony, saying “Luca had asked me to play the role of the peach, but our schedules conflicted. Thank God, because then I would have been another woman that Armie Hammer tried to eat.” referring to the scene in the movie where Hammer’s character eats a peach suggestively.
There is a documentary called “House of Hammer” which features interviews with individuals who have come forward as reported victims of Armie Hammer. They recount their experiences of how the actor allegedly manipulated and coaxed them into engaging in sexual acts.
