Mourning for British music: rapper Ben Chijioke , aka Ty , died at the age of 47 from some complications related to the coronavirus. In fact, Ty had tested positive at Covid-19 and had been hospitalized in early April: initially put into a pharmacological coma, in mid-April he had improved and the artist had left intensive care.
Subsequently, however, other complications made his condition more serious and Ty, a British born in London but of a Nigerian family, did not make it. For the album Upwards, in 2003, he had been among the nominees for the Mercury prize together with the Streets and Amy Winehouse: two years earlier, in 2001, he had debuted with his album The Awkward. His latest album dated back to two years ago, Work of Heart in 2018. Many artists who paid homage to him via social media, writes the Independent newspaper .
