Disney Studios invited Craig Mazin, screenwriter of the sensational mini-series Chernobyl, to work on restarting Pirates of the Caribbean. Mazin will come up with a new storyline co-authored with Ted Elliot, the permanent screenwriter of all five parts of the adventure franchise.
It is noteworthy that previously producer Jerry Bruckheimer recruited Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to work on Deadpool and Welcome to Zombieland. According to his idea, the authors were to breathe new life into a dying family franchise. However, the guys soon left the project due to creative differences.
It is worth recalling that the upcoming restart of The Pirates was decided to be shot without Johnny Depp, the actor will never return to his cult role as captain Jack Sparrow. The blame for his inappropriate behavior on the set and beyond (scandalous divorce from Amber Heard, accusation of assault), which defames Disney studio, focused on family and ethical values. In addition, after the release of the latest Pirates of the Caribbean and counting the profits, it became clear that the cunning and charming Jack Sparrow is not as interesting to the audience as before.
According to rumors, Karen Gillian, star of Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers, is ready to replace Depp. True, official confirmation from the representatives of the actress has not yet been received.
