At the Cannes film festival, stars and fans are no longer allowed to make selfies on the red carpet. Festival director Thierry Fremaux has banned it.
In a conversation with Film francais , Fremaux says that he came to this measure in consultation with Pierre Lescure, chairman of the Cannes Film Festival, writes The Hollywood Reporter .
Fremaux has always been against making a selfie at a festival. According to him, the phenomenon affects the grandeur of an event like the Cannes Film Festival. The festival management also wants the press displays to take place simultaneously with the galapremieres.
The film festival in Cannes is at its 71st edition and will take place this year from 8 May to 19 May in France.
