The body of the man who shot at least ten people in a nightclub in the US state of California has been found in his white van. The police announced this during a press conference last night.
It would be about 72-year-old Huu Can Tran, a man of Asian descent, who took his own life in his bus.
Live helicopter footage from local media showed the white van containing the suspect’s body. The bus was found in the town of Torrance, south of Los Angeles, just over 25 miles from Monterey Park, the predominantly Asian town where the shooting happened.
Evidence
The van was parked in the parking lot of a Japanese supermarket and was surrounded by officers for an hour before entering. Police heard one shot from inside the vehicle and found the man dead.
Evidence in the van, including a gun, confirmed that it was Tran. Police expect he acted alone and are not looking for other suspects.

At least ten people were killed and ten injured in the Monterey Park shooting. Four injured people are in a critical condition in hospital. The gunman fled before police arrived at the club. Police have not said anything about the motive. For example, it is still being investigated whether the perpetrator knew the victims.
Nightclub owner dead
The man opened fire in a nightclub an hour after the Chinese New Year was celebrated in the city. Witnesses told the Los Angeles Times newspaper that he fired at random with a semi-automatic rifle.
He would have had ammunition with him to reload his rifle. According to those present at the club, the owner of the nightclub is one of the dead.
‘horrific case’
Chief of Police Robert Luna calls it one of the “most horrific cases” in his region. Five women and five men died in the incident. This is the deadliest shooting since Uvalde last year, when 19 children and two teachers were killed in Texas.
