Bristol Palin shared a post-surgery mirror selfie on her Instagram Story, revealing that she had undergone her 9th breast reconstruction surgery. The surgery was the result of a breast reduction surgery that did not go as planned when she was 19 years old. She added that this had caused her muscle tissue damage and terrible scarring.
In the post, she wrote about how the entire situation had made her self-conscious throughout her adult life. She also expressed her hope that this would be her last surgery and acknowledged that it had put a setback or pause on her life which is why she had been fairly MIA on social media. She also reminded herself that she had so much to be thankful for, being healthy and fully capable.
Palin has been open on social media in the past about her body image and surgeries. In March 2021, she shared a video on Instagram showing off her fit stomach and revealed a scar from a tummy tuck surgery she had in 2018.

In a video on Instagram, Bristol Palin shared a candid message about the reality of social media and how people only post what they want others to see. She stated that she posts from decent angles and not from insecurities or scars (visible or not).
She then went on to reveal a scar from a tummy tuck surgery she had years ago, and urged others not to compare themselves to others on social media, as it can lead to the theft of joy. She also included a quote from Psalm 143:8
“Let’s get real for a sec,” Palin wrote. “I post what I want y’all to see. From decent angles and not from insecurities/scars (visible or not). Here’s something I don’t share. The scar from the tummy tuck I had years ago.”
“Comparison can be the thief of all joy” — don’t let this place have you comparing your own worth and stealing your joy, she wrote.
