Pop star Billie Eilish has defended her friendship with Drake after the rapper was called “creepy” for sending text messages to the 18-year-old.
Drake, 33, was criticized last year when Eilish revealed that they had become friends with text messages after Drake approached to praise his music.
Some trolls criticized Drake for what they claimed was inappropriate behavior, given their age gap of 15 years, but Eilish was baffled by the controversy, because their friendship is based on mutual respect.
“The Internet is such a stupid mess right now,” the teenager told Vogue magazine. “Everyone is very sensitive. An adult man can’t be a fan of a younger artist? “
Eilish continued: “There are so many people that the Internet should be more worried about. Like, are you really going to say that Drake is creepy because he’s a fan of mine, and then you’re going to vote for Donald Trump? What the hell is that?
It is not the first time that Drake faces a violent reaction by sending text messages to a teenage star: in 2018, it was also revealed that he was a good friend of Stranger Things star, Millie Bobby Brown, and even began offering Dating tips for the now 15-year-old star.
After facing a similar negative press for her close friendship, Brown turned to social media to insist that she was “lucky” to have Drake as a friend.
“I am fortunate that people in the business extend their time to help me advance my career and offer their wisdom and guidance. I am very blessed to have incredible people in my life. ”
