The fourth Captain America film will be called “Captain America: New World Order,” Marvel Studios announced Saturday night at Comic-Con in San Diego. The film will hit theaters on May 3, 2024. The lead role is played by Anthony Mackie.
The actor has so far only played the role of Falcon, another superhero in films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). At the end of the movie Avengers: Endgame , the old Captain America, played by Chris Evans, gives his familiar round shield to his friend Sam Wilson (Mackie) as a sign that he should succeed him as Captain America. Mackie was next featured in the Marvel series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+, which expanded on this plot twist. So now he has the lead role in his first own Captain America film.
It was recently announced that Julius Onah will direct the film. The script of the fourth Captain America film was written by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, who were also responsible for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
