Los Angeles Man Pleads Not Guilty to Grisly Triple Murder
In a shocking case that has gripped the city, 35-year-old Samuel Bond Haskell IV pleaded not guilty on Friday to three counts of murder, facing special circumstances for committing multiple homicides. The victims were identified as his wife, Mei Haskell, 37, her mother, Yanxiang Wang, 64, and stepfather, Gaoshan Li, 72.
Haskell, the son of Emmy-winning producer Sam Haskell and a former executive at the renowned William Morris talent agency, resides in the Tarzana neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley with his wife, three young children, and her parents.
The gruesome incident unfolded on November 7 when Haskell allegedly hired four day laborers to remove bags from his property, paying them $500. The laborers were told they were transporting rocks, but suspicions arose as the bags felt strangely soggy and soft. Upon opening one of the bags, the workers claimed to have discovered human body parts.
Promptly returning the money, the laborers left the bags on Haskell’s driveway and contacted the police. However, by the time officers arrived, the bags had disappeared, complicating the investigation.
The following day, a homeless man stumbled upon a duffel bag containing a human torso in a Tarzana dumpster. Haskell was arrested shortly thereafter. The Los Angeles County coroner confirmed that the torso belonged to Mei Haskell, while the remains of her parents are still unaccounted for.
Haskell’s attorney, Joseph Weimortz, has yet to provide a comment on the case. If convicted, Haskell could face life in prison without the possibility of parole. The unsettling circumstances surrounding this heinous crime continue to unfold as investigators strive to piece together the details of this tragic event.
