American country singer Loretta Lynn has died at the age of 90. Lynn died Tuesday at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, her family announced.
Loretta Lynn became world famous in the early 1960s with her hit song Coal Miner’s Daughter , an autobiographical song.
She distinguished herself from other country singers by singing openly about sex, cheating and divorce. In 2005 Lynn made a surprising comeback with the album Van Lear Rose . She did that under the care of Jack White, the frontman of The White Stripes.
The singer married then 21-year-old Oliver Lynn at the age of 15, a month after she met him. The couple stayed together for 48 years, until Oliver died in 1996. The couple had six children.
