Mariah Carey has broken a record in the United States. Her 1994 classic All I Want for Christmas Is You is the only Christmas hit to have sold more than ten million times. The singer has therefore received a diamond award from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), which keeps track of sales.
“I continue to be amazed that the love for my song still exists and I feel multiple emotions,” Carey told American media. “I find it incredible that All I Want for Christmas Is You has endured several decades in the music industry.”
The song still returns to the charts around the Christmas season. The song also entered the Dutch Single Top 100 last month. This week he is in 25th place. For the past three years, the song finally landed at number one.
