Alicia Keys will produce a romantic comedy for Netflix again, Deadline reports Tuesday. Keys previously produced the movie Work It for the streaming service.
The film’s screenplay will be written by Stella Meghie, Dana Schmalenberg and Rheeqrheeq Chainey. Steven Tsuchida is involved in the project as a director. Previously he directed the series Younger and Dear White People .
Christina Milian ( Falling Inn Love ), Jay Pharoah ( Bad Hair) and Sinqua Walls ( American Soul ) will star. The film will be shot in Mauritius.
The story centers on an aspiring pop star, Erica, who is hired as a singer at her ex-fiancé’s wedding. She tries to keep their past relationship a secret from his bride-to-be Beverly, but then Erica rediscovers her feelings for her ex.
When the film will appear on the streaming service has not yet been announced.
