But they have something else: their famous legendary monsters, (Dracula, the mummy, Frankenstein’s monster …) and it comes to them the idea that by updating all these classics, they will be able to do something about it.
This is how their ambitious project, which is not yet called the Dark Universe , is launched and what better than to start with one of their most popular monsters: Dracula. Lack of luck, the film is Dracula Untold, directed by Gary Shore with Luke Evans in the title role, and it’s still a hell of a disaster. So much so that following the very bad reception of the film, Universal decides to eject it directly from the continuity and to make as if it had never existed while starting the Dark Universe with its following film, The Mummy. Yes, there are some who never learn.
If for the moment we have no news from the aftermath of this extended universe (and that it suits us very well like that), Luke Evans meanwhile would be well to find the canines of the Count in a new film, as he said at Screen Rant’s microphone :
“It was a very pleasant experience for me, I think the film had a lot of flaws, but I had good feedback and several people asked me if we would make a sequel. the door is open, you know, this character can transcend a lot of times, so who knows, I’d love to bring him back in a given context, or with another concept, but quite honestly, you know as much as I do about what’s going on in Universal’s office, I really do not know. “
So, do not panic, it does not say that Dracula Untold knows a continuation, that it is integrated in the Dark Universe, moreover it is not even said that there is still a Dark Universe. And if the truth is generally elsewhere, there are still questions that it is better not to have the answer.
