Four people were killed and many others injured as a result of a loud explosion Friday in a mosque in the capital, Kabul, the Afghan Ministry of Interior announced.
The ministry confirmed in a statement that the explosion shook the Shah Shah Suri mosque west of the capital during Friday prayers, noting that the imam of the mosque, Azizullah Muflih, was among the dead.
The ministry stated that an explosive device was planted inside the mosque.
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
This comes 10 days after an explosion occurred in another mosque in the middle of Kabul, leaving two dead and several wounded.
