Annie Wersching, a well-known actress, passed away on Sunday morning due to cancer, according to her publicist, Craig Schneider. She was 45 years old.
Wersching was most famous for her role as FBI agent Renee Walker in the series “24.”
Her husband, Stephen Full, issued a statement expressing his sorrow: “There is a cavernous hole in the soul of this family today. But she left us the tools to fill it. She found wonder in the simplest moment. She didn’t require music to dance. She taught us not to wait for adventure to find you. ‘Go find it. It’s everywhere.’ And find it we shall,”
In addition to her work on “24”, Wersching also lent her voice to the character Tess in the video game “The Last of Us.” Neil Druckmann, the creative director of the new HBO Max series based on the game, tweeted a tribute to her passing.
“Just found out my dear friend, Annie Wersching, passed away. We just lost a beautiful artist and human being. My heart is shattered. Thoughts are with her loved ones.”
Ever Carradine, an actress known for her role in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” has set up a GoFundMe campaign to support Annie Wersching’s children and husband. The fund aims to help them continue living in a way that would make Annie proud.
Throughout her career, Wersching appeared in various television dramas, including a recurring role as Amelia Joffe on the ABC soap “General Hospital” in 2007 and her breakout role as FBI agent Renee Walker on the Fox show “24” from 2008 to 2010. She also had notable roles on Amazon Prime’s “Bosch” and the CW’s “The Vampire Diaries.”
In 2022, Wersching appeared as the Borg Queen in “Star Trek Picard.” She frequently shared pictures from the set on her social media and expressed gratitude for the makeup and prosthetics artists who helped transform her into the intergalactic villain. This role is listed as one of her last professional credits on IMDb.
Wersching’s husband, Stephen Full, concluded his statement by sharing a fond memory of their family: “As I drove our boys, the true loves of her life, down the winding driveway and street, she would yell BYE! until we were out of earshot and into the world. I can still hear it ringing. Bye my Buddie. ‘I love you little family…’”
Jon Cassar, the director and executive producer of “24”, paid tribute to Annie Wersching and remembered her as “a beautiful soul” and an “incredible talent.”
We lost a beautiful soul today, a friend, a incredible talent, and the best mom and wife. @anniewershing you left your mark and you’ll be missed. This is my favorite picture of the many I took, from the time we spent together on 24. pic.twitter.com/AQXtzTFH7O
