Kevin Bacon Recounts Harrowing Moment Valet Rescued Son Locked in Car
In a recent appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Hollywood actor Kevin Bacon shared a nerve-wracking incident from his past involving his newborn son, Travis, and a quick-thinking valet who saved the day.
The incident occurred while Bacon, known for his roles in “Footloose” and “Tremors,” was filming in the 1990s. Staying at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles with his wife, Kyra Sedgwick, and their dog, Bacon found himself in a frantic situation after accidentally locking his keys in the car with his 4-day-old son still inside.
Recalling the panic-inducing moment, Bacon described how he jumped out of the car, leaving it running with the windows up and the keys inside. It was only when he turned to retrieve his son that he realized the dire mistake he had made.
Fortunately, a heroic valet at the hotel quickly sprang into action. With remarkable speed, the valet utilized a towel-wrapped fist to smash through a small triangular window on the car door, granting access to the trapped infant.
Reflecting on the valet’s swift response, Bacon marveled at his bravery, likening him to a superhero. Despite the terrifying ordeal, the valet’s intervention lasted mere seconds, ultimately freeing Travis from the locked vehicle unharmed.
Years later, Bacon returned to the Chateau Marmont and reunited with the valet, reminiscing about the incident and expressing gratitude for his life-saving actions.
Bacon and Sedgwick, married since 1988, have two children, including Travis, who has since grown into an actor, filmmaker, and musician. Sedgwick recently celebrated Travis’ musical talents, showcasing his performance on stage and garnering praise from proud father Bacon.
The heart-stopping experience serves as a reminder of the importance of quick thinking and the profound impact of everyday heroes.
