The Miss Universe pageant was held in New Orleans and aired on Roku. Some believe that the outcome was predetermined with R’Bonney Gabriel as the winner, which ultimately came to fruition.
Amanda Dudamel from Venezuela, who gave strong performances and received positive feedback for her answers and outfits, placed as the runner-up. In particular, Gabriel’s costume choice, a controversial moon landing outfit, received criticism.
Many are questioning a potential conflict of interest involving Jakrajutatip and her corporation, JKN Global, due to their recent purchase of Miss Universe for $20 million, which also includes the rights to Miss USA.
There have also been previous allegations of favoritism in the selection of Gabriel as Miss USA, dating back to October when JKN Global took over as the new organizers. As a result, there have been suspensions in the top ranks of the pageant following investigations.
Another element in this controversy is the fact that Jakrajutatip is a transgender woman. This fact gained attention during the pageant when she delivered a speech in which she stated that Miss Universe is now owned by women, for women.
