The Fox 2000 studio bought the rights to film a romantic comedy inspired by the bet on social networks in the Super Bowl that led to a meeting between tennis player Eugenie Bouchard and a stranger.
The specialized site Deadline reported the new Friday.
The bet was formed at the Super Bowl LI in 2017. The Atlanta Falcons held a significant lead over the New England Patriots when Bouchard posted a tweet on Twitter claiming he knew the Falcons were going to win. . A Patriots supporter named John Goehrke responded by asking if she would agree to go on a date if the Patriots won. Bouchard had agreed and the Patriots managed the most spectacular comeback in Super Bowl history to finally win 34-28.
The Wimbledon finalist in 2014 honored his promise a few weeks later, meeting Goehrke for a Brooklyn Nets basketball game. The two continued to meet during the year, even attending the Super Bowl LII together, when the Patriots lost to the Philadelphia Eagles.
The film should revolve around dating and love in the digital age.
Bouchard should get an executive producer credit.
Jonathan A. Abrams is responsible for the script.
