About today’s premiere of the film by French director Eva Hasson “The Girls of the Sun” (Les Filles Du Soleil) will speak for a long time. But first of all, not because of the picture itself, to see which came an incredibly large number of stars, but because of the protest action that the popular actresses staged right on the red carpet.
After the traditional photocall, Keith Blanchett , Kristen Stewart , Salma Hayek , Marion Cotillard and their other colleagues (82 actresses and female directors took part in the action) joined hands, thus opposing discrimination in the film industry.
Women are not a minority in the world. But what is happening in our industry says the opposite. As women, we all face characteristic problems, but today we stand together on this ladder and symbolize determination and progress. We are writers, producers, directors, actresses, cinematographers, editors, distributors, sales agents and everyone who works in film,

The number of activists was not accidental. The fact is that for the entire history of the Cannes Film Festival, only 82 films made by women participated in it, while the pictures, directed by men, were represented 20 times more – 1688.
