Allegedly, the suspect seized the arm of a young boy inside a restroom at a Wawa located in Maurice River, New Jersey.
Authorities in New Jersey are seeking an unidentified man who allegedly attempted to lure a 7-year-old boy from a Wawa restroom on Sunday using candy. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. at the Dorchester Wawa situated at 3904 State Highway 47 in Maurice River, as reported by the New Jersey State Police. According to the child, the suspect entered the restroom and enticed him with candy, urging him to leave the store together.
When the boy declined, the man reportedly seized his arm in an effort to forcibly remove him from the premises.
Authorities stated that the brave 7-year-old managed to resist the suspect’s grip and successfully escaped. The boy quickly sought refuge with his mother, who happened to be in the women’s restroom at the time. Unfortunately, by the time the child’s family became aware of the incident, the suspect had already departed from the store.
Law enforcement has made public the surveillance footage capturing the suspect’s entrance and exit from the Wawa store. The individual is described by the police as a White male with gray hair that is thinning and styled in a backward comb-over. At the time, he was observed wearing blue jeans and a maroon or burgundy T-shirt. Detectives have reason to believe that the suspect fled the scene in a white Toyota 4-Runner.
