Among the generous donors, we find the actor Leonardo DiCaprio who would have donated 10 million dollars (about 9 million euros) for Ukraine. The 47-year-old comedian has a strong connection to the country as his maternal grandmother, Helene Indebirken, was born in Odessa , southern Ukraine. In 1917, she then left for Germany. The latter was very close to her grandson and was often present at his side during the previews of films where Leonardo DiCaprio played. She sadly passed away in 2008, at the age of 93.
This is not the first time that the Hollywood star has committed to causes that are noble to him. He had already made donations during natural disasters or for climate actions. When it comes to Ukraine, Leonardo DiCaprio isn’t the only celebrity who decided to pull out the checkbook. Mila Kunis and her husband Ashton Kutcher have also mobilized by making a donation of 3 million dollars in favor of the Ukrainian population. The couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have announced a donation of one million dollars.
