Hollywood Unlocked has apologized for posting fake news about the death of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth. The site, which reported Tuesday evening based on sources that the Queen had died, called it an “embarrassing situation” on social media on Wednesday that was caused by an intern.
Hollywood Unlocked wrote that the lifeless body of the 95-year-old queen was found Tuesday before she was to attend the wedding of Vogue editor-in -chief Edward Enninful.
British royalty reporters quickly refuted the ‘news report’. “I hate to tell you this, but that’s not how the death of a monarch is announced,” royal expert Marlene Koenig tweeted. She added that Elizabeth would never attend the editor-in-chief’s wedding either. “She only goes to family weddings.”
The website said Wednesday that the message about Elizabeth’s death accidentally appeared online. “We are working hard to prevent such an error from happening again. The intern was misinformed and accidentally published the draft message.”
While the news about the Queen isn’t accurate, she doesn’t feel quite fit right now. Elizabeth is infected with the corona virus and canceled some digital appointments on Tuesday due to “mild cold complaints”.
