Against the backdrop of the announced deal to take over Activision Blizzard, Phil Spencer has been appointed CEO of the Microsoft Gaming division.
In his address to Microsoft employees, which came to the disposal of The Verge, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, in addition to general information about the upcoming takeover deal for one of the largest gaming publishers on the market, mentioned the appointment of Phil Spencer as CEO of Microsoft Gaming.
As of today, Phil Spencer is the CEO of Microsoft Gaming. Once the deal is closed, the entire Activision Blizzard business will report to Phil.

In his own letter to the Xbox team, Phil Spencer confirmed the appointment and clarified that the marketing team, led by CMO Jerret West, would now also answer directly to him.
