An explosion occurred this Sunday in a crowded place near the central Eidgah Mosque in the capital of Afghanistan. Taliban spokesman * Zabihullah Mujahid has confirmed that the attack left civilians dead and targeted the entrance to the mosque.

The exact number of victims is still unknown. Interior Ministry spokesman Qari Sayed Khosti told AFP that, according to preliminary data, two civilians were killed and three more were injured, while Emergency NGO reports four injured treated at its hospital in Kabul, funded by Italy.
The explosion in Kabul coincided with the first massive Taliban rally organized outside the city to celebrate their victory.
Eidgah is the second largest mosque in the city. The memorial ceremony for Mujahid’s mother was reportedly underway at the time of the attack at the place of worship.

So far no one has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in mid-August, the number of attacks in the country by the Islamic State of Greater Khorasan, the Afghan faction of ISIS, has increased.
