The hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother gets a spin-off starring Hilary Duff. Streaming service Hulu has ordered ten episodes of How I Met Your Father , Deadline writes on Wednesday.
Plans for the spin-off had been around for some time, but previously came to nothing. Rather than having a pilot made first, Hulu immediately ordered a whole series.
The plot is set up similar to How I Met Your Mother . The main character, Sophie, tells her son in the year 2021 how she met his father. The original revolved around Ted telling his children in the year 2030 about events that eventually led to his meeting with their mother. His search started in the year 2005.
The spin-off will be created by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger but the original creators, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, are also on the project. It is not yet known when the first episodes will be shown.
How I Met Your Mother ran from 2005 to 2014 and has a total of nine seasons. Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan starred.
The show is a credit to 33-year-old Duff. She is supposedly currently working on a reboot of Lizzie McGuire , but attempts to revive the series failed late last year.
