Angelina Jolie decided to put directing on the back burner after her divorce from Brad Pitt. In conversation with Entertainment Weekly , the director and actress says that she wanted to be home more often.
Jolie’s 2014 film Unbroken was nominated for three Oscars. The last film she directed is First They Killed My Father, released in 2017 . “I love directing. But because my family situation changed, that was not possible for me recently,” explains the filmmaker.
“I needed less time-consuming work so I could be more at home. That’s why I took on some acting jobs again. That’s behind it,” said Jolie, who will soon be seen in the thriller Those Who Wish Me Dead .
In November 2020 it was announced that Jolie will be directing again. She is working on Unreasonable Behavior , a film based on the autobiography of the British war photographer Don McCullin. Jolie films the life of McCullin, who documented the war in Vietnam, among other things.
The actress filed for a divorce in 2016, but it has still not been finalized. Their children Maddox (19), Pax (17), Zahara (16), Shiloh (14), Knox (12) and Vivienne (12) mainly stay with her. Maddox wouldn’t want to have any more contact with his father.
