The Grammy Award winner will play the same role as Rivera, who passed away last year.
After the tragic death of actress and singer Nai Rivera in the summer of 2020, the TV series Step Up: The Tide, in which she played one of the main roles, will return to screens with a new artist. Replaces Latin American star Christina Milian, who won a Grammy in 2005.
According to the Variety edition, Milian, who joined the cast of the musical drama, will play the same character named Colette Jones in the third season of the project.
“Naya was incredible. I hope to pay tribute to Naya, her family, friends and fans by fulfilling her role with dignity, ”Milian said to Variety.
Step Up: The Tide is part of the popular dance franchise Step Up. The project originally developed video hosting YouTube, closing the show after two seasons. In May 2020, Starz bought the rights to the series, launching production of the third season. Filming for the new episodes began in early February in Atlanta.
Recall that the actress and singer Naya Rivera, who embodied the main female image in Step Forward: The Tide, went missing on July 8, 2020, during a boat trip on the lake with her 4-year-old son. The body of the star “Hora” was found in the reservoir only six days after the incident.
