Kate Middleton has been named the ‘patron’ of the Royal Photographic Society. With this she takes over from Queen Elizabeth. This is announced by the British royal family via a press release .
After 67 years of service, the queen passed on her role to her grandson’s wife. Middleton’s role as patron is announced for a visit to a photography workshop of the Royal Photographic Society and Action For Children, where the Duchess of Cambridge performs the same role.
Middleton has been interested in photography for a long time and hopes in her role to underline the benefits of art and creativity for mental health.
The Royal Photographic Society was founded in 1853 to promote the art and science of photography. There are eleven thousand members of the Society. Middleton was already named an honorary member in 2017.
