According to the HuffPost: The family of the Tom Petty confirmed that he passed away and couldn’t survive the cardiac arrest.
Tom Petty who was a lead singer and songwriter of band Tom Petty and Heartbreakers has passed away on Monday after being rushed to the UCLA Hospital in the unconscious condition. He was 66 years of age.
According to TMZ Tom Petty was rushed to the hospital to the UCLA Medical Center at Santa Monica while in “Full cardiac arrest” on Sunday night. His life support was taken off when there was no ” brain activity” found the next day.
Many news agencies announced the death of the Singer earlier in the day after the “inadvertently provided info to some media sources.” by LAPD but later it was confirmed by the LAPD that the reports were “inadvertent”.
Later on Monday it was announced by the band’s manager in a statement that “Tom Petty has passed away”

Petty started blooming into the music scene in 1976 with his group ” Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Many superhits were launched by the group for several decades which includes “American Girl,” “Free Falin’,” “Refugee” and “I Won’t Back Down.” He was also a member of the supergroup collective the Traveling Wilburys in the late ’80s alongside Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne.
