The American actor Val Kilmer returns to the silver screen in the iconic role with which he experienced his great breakthrough.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Kilmer has signed for Top Gun: Maverick, the long awaited sequel to the original action movie from 1986 with Tom Cruise again in the lead.
In 1986 Top Gun played Kilmer the role of Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazanski who takes on Maverick (Cruise) in the battle for the title Top Gun, or the best fighter pilot of the American Navy. In addition, the pilots also fought at the heart of their instructor Charlie (Kelly McGillis).
In the future, the fighter pilots are confronted with a world in which drones seem to make their old style of flying superfluous.
Top Gun 2 must be released on July 12, 2019, 33 years after the original. Cruise tweeted recently that the recordings have begun.
