On Monday evening, a pickup truck was involved in a crash with a cargo train in Prince William County, Virginia. According to authorities, two individuals suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision.
The incident took place at approximately 6:30 p.m. on a private railway crossing near Kapp Valley Way and James Madison Highway (Route 15) in Haymarket. A spokesperson for the Prince William County Police Department stated that the train collided with the truck.
The impact of the crash pushed the truck nearly 300 feet down the tracks. Emergency responders were called to the scene and were forced to extract two individuals trapped inside the vehicle. Both were transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital, where they remain in critical condition according to fire officials.
