Tom Hanks (64) and his wife Rita Wilson (63) have officially become Greeks. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis (52) has revealed this on Instagram.

The politician posted a photo on Instagram with Tom and Rita, showing the acting couple holding up their new passports. “Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks are now proud Greek citizens,” added Mitsotakis.

Rita has a Greek mother herself and was raised Greek Orthodox. Hanks and Wilson have produced several films in Greece, including My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Mamma Mia !.

At the end of last year it was announced that Tom and Rita had been offered Greek citizenship. To really get the Greek nationality, Hanks and his family had to take an oath within a year.
