Timbaland Issues Apology After Controversial Britney Spears Comments
In the midst of growing criticism over his recent remarks, Timbaland has offered an apology following his suggestion that Justin Timberlake should’ve placed a “muzzle” on Britney Spears.
The apology came in the form of a TikTok video where he expressed remorse, saying, “I apologize to the Britney fans and her. Yeah, so, you know, about respecting women? Hell yeah.”
Timbaland’s initial comment surfaced during his appearance at the Afrotech Conference held in Austin, Texas, where he was asked about his thoughts on the media buzz surrounding Britney Spears’ newly released memoir.
In response, he quipped, “I wanted to call JT and say, ‘Man! You gotta put a muzzle on that girl.'”
His statement triggered a swift and widespread backlash on social media, with many condemning the comment as misogynistic. Critics also raised questions about Timbaland’s own history, particularly his past collaboration with the late Aaliyah and Spears’ reported reluctance to work with him in previous years.

Meanwhile, in her memoir, Britney Spears did not hold back when discussing her relationship with Justin Timberlake. She revealed that she had undergone an abortion during their time together, accused him of infidelity, and shared her perspective on how she felt she was portrayed using a lookalike in Timberlake’s “Cry Me A River” music video.
The controversy surrounding Timbaland’s comment and the revelations from Britney Spears’ memoir continue to captivate public attention as discussions about respect, accountability, and the treatment of women in the entertainment industry remain at the forefront of the conversation.
