Despite declining viewing figures, The Walking Dead gets a tenth season. That made channel AMC known Monday officially with a video on social media.
In the tenth season, the new baddies, the so-called ‘Whisperers’, play the leading role. It was already known that actor Andrew Lincoln, who played the leading role in the series for nine seasons, would direct an episode in the new season. But an official confirmation of the tenth part was delayed.
The Walking Dead broke around the fourth and fifth season, broadcast between 2013 and 2015, one view digit record after the other. The post-apocalyptic zombie series lost a lot of viewers in the last two years, and last autumn Lincoln stopped his role as leader of the zombie hunters Rick Grimes. Nevertheless, the series still attracts an audience of millions.
In the last episode before the winter break of the current season, The Whisperers emerged for the first time. They play a major role in the comics of Robert Kirkman on which the series is based.
In November last year, producer Scott Gimple announced that the series will receive several sequels in the form of films around Grimes.
