Geoff Johns himself will lead a live-action Stargirl series for the DC Universe platform in 2019.
DC and Warner Bros. Television have obviously decided to make a carpet with the future DC Universe platform. Indeed, the “ultimate” service for fans of the works of the famous publishing house has just announced the production of an unprecedented seventh series to feed the catalog already rich site (whose subscription price was unveiled recently). Indeed, a Stargirl series in live-action is in the pipes for 2019.
A heroine dear to Geoff Johns
Already quickly appearing in Legends of Tomorrow as actress Sarah Gray, Stargirl, whose real name is Courtney Whitmore, was originally a member of the first superhero team, the Justice Society of America (JSA). This series should be a modern reimagination, “fun, exciting and unpredictable”, while the character will be a student who will inspire a group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past.
Geoff Johns (former creative director of DC), who created the character with Lee Moder in 1999 in honor of his sister who died in a plane crash in 1996, will be in the screenplay and production of this series in 13 episodes via his Mad Ghost production company. Sarah Schechter and especially Greg Berlanti will be in production too,
DC Universe: many old, but also new content
For the record, DC Universe will offer the Titans live series (which showed its trailer yesterday ), but also live series Doom Patrol, Swamp Thing and Metropolis and animated series Harley Quinn and Young Justice: Outsiders. Fans of old movies and DC series should also be served, but for the moment the launch is not planned outside the United States.
