Sony has unveiled the design of the PlayStation VR2. The appearance is based on the first PSVR and the PlayStation 5.
Sony has finally unveiled the design of the second VR headset for the PlayStation . The arrival of the glasses was announced a year ago , followed a month later by the design of the controllers and at the beginning of this year technical details such as the resolution and frame rate were announced. Now that the appearance has also been revealed, only the price and date of sale of the glasses remain.
According to Sony, the new PSVR is based on the first copy, which appeared for the PS4 in 2016. The PSVR2 also has an adjustable headband from which the glasses hang.
Match PlayStation 5 design
The appearance of the glasses is a bit rounder, according to Sony to match the design of both the controllers and the PlayStation 5 . Like the PS5, the new glasses are predominantly white in color; it is not yet known whether the glasses will be available in other colors.
In addition to the adjustable headband, the new glasses also have a field of view that can be rotated closer or further away from the eyes. The lenses are also adjustable in width this time, so users can better position them perpendicular to their eyes. There is also a grid for ventilation in the glasses, which, according to Sony, ensures that the glasses do not fog up during play.
According to Sony, the glasses are slightly more compact than the previous model, and also lighter. That’s despite the addition of a new haptic vibration motor, which, like the PS5’s controller, can send various types of vibrations, taps and other feedback to the user’s head. The glasses also this time have a mini-jack connection for corded headphones.
The glasses will soon have to be connected to the PS5 with a single USB-C cable . That cord is behind the user’s left ear.
