Spanish authorities are going to sue the Latin American singer Shakira ( Shakira). According to the local tax service , the 41-year-old artist hid her presence in Spain from 2012 to 2014 , and now has to pay taxes in the amount of 14.5 million euros.
According to the documents, Shakira lives in the Bahamas , but spends a lot of time in Barcelona together with the Spanish football player Gerard Piqué , her actual husband , and their two sons.
Under the laws of each , who is in Spain more than six months , it becomes a tax resident. If, however, a criminal case is brought against the singer and she loses him , she could face a prison term.
Representatives of the artist deny her guilt: “This is a completely slanderous campaign. Shakira used as a scapegoat , to intimidate other taxpayers. ” It is reported , that the singer officially living in Spain since 2015 and has long been paid off its debt to the state.
