The actress accepted the invitation with great enthusiasm.
Patrick Stewart, known for playing Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the Star Trek franchise, urged his colleague Whoopi Goldberg to return to the role of El Aurian Gaynan in the second season of Star Trek: Picard. Recall that the actress played this heroine in the TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation from 1988 to 1993. As a guest of The View talk show hosted by Goldberg, Stuart addressed her with these words:
I came here with an official invitation. And that concerns you, Whoopi. Alex Kurtzman, senior executive producer of Star Trek: Picard, as well as his colleagues, including myself, want to invite you to the second season.

Warmly embracing Stuart, Goldberg agreed, adding:
I already spoke about this earlier, but Star Trek gave me wonderful experiences – this was from the beginning to the very end. It was just a great time. The best time.

The View co-host Joy Behar then asked Stuart if Goldberg would now have to “get rid” of her new hairstyle – now Whoopi wears the platinum dreadlocks she needs for the role of Mother Abigail in the mini-series Confrontation, which will be aired later in this year. To this question, Stewart answered that Goldberg can do “anything.”
